VALUES & MISSION
Sarah Naylor didn’t set out to build a business. She set out to build what she once needed. Raised in inner-city Dublin, Sarah grew up surrounded by poverty, addiction, and instability. She watched women work hard, care deeply, and still struggle not because they lacked ability, but because they lacked access, guidance, and opportunity. Years later, after navigating her own financial stress, burnout, and self-doubt, Sarah came to a simple but powerful realisation:Skills change lives. That belief became Beauty Business in a Box® a social enterprise delivering short, accredited beauty and business programmes to women and girls who have been excluded from education or employment.
Many participants are lone parents, care leavers, survivors of domestic abuse, women leaving prison, women living in direct provision, and those who have spent years on social welfare and lost belief in themselves.
What makes the programme different is not just what is taught, but how it is delivered. Students learn practical beauty skills, business foundations, and confidence-building tools, before gaining real work experience through community pop-up salons.
These salons intentionally bring together different generations and communities, local residents, older women, young people, migrant families, and first-time clients, creating spaces of connection, dignity, and belonging. In migrant communities, training is delivered with the support of interpreters, ensuring language is never a barrier to opportunity. In direct provision centres, women awaiting asylum decisions are supported to develop skills, confidence, and clarity so that when their status is granted, they can hit the ground running, ready to work, study, or start a business.
Participants are also guided toward wraparound supports including Local Enterprise Offices, education pathways, financial supports, counselling services, and community networks so no woman is left trying to navigate change alone.
Recently, Sarah shared stories with the support of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland that capture the heart of the work .
A woman who spent over a decade on social welfare now runs her own beauty business and supports her children independently.
A student who trained while in prison had her certificate referenced by the court when determining her release and is now rebuilding her life with ongoing mentoring support.
Young women who had never earned their own money are now generating €800–€1,200 per week and teaching their children what independence looks like.
With support from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland through the Impact Programme, Sarah transformed a grassroots community programme into a scalable, national model. SEI provided the strategic guidance, leadership development, and belief needed to help her move from running courses alone to building a movement with long-term vision and impact.
To date, Beauty Business in a Box® has supported 340+ women and girls, delivering a measured €10.54 social return for every €1 invested. But for Sarah, the real return is human: “For the first time, I feel proud of myself.” “I finally believe I can build a future.”
Beauty Business in a Box® isn’t about beauty. It is about dignity, belief, and second chances, and proving that when women are given skills, support, and someone who believes in them, they don’t just change their own lives, they change the future for their families and communities.
Our Values At Beauty Business in a Box®, our work is guided by five core values — values that spell MAMMY — because at its heart, this movement is about protection, power, and possibility.
M — Money (Financial Independence). We believe financial independence changes everything. When women earn their own money, they gain choice, safety, confidence, and control over their future. Income is not just economic, it is transformational.
A — Achieve (Accountability & Action) We encourage women to take ownership of their growth. We provide the tools, structure, and belief but we also champion responsibility, consistency, and forward movement. Change happens through action.
M — Mastery (Skills & Excellence)We do not offer hobby training. We deliver accredited, practical skills that meet real market demand. Mastery builds confidence. Competence builds income. Excellence builds reputation.
M — Mentorship (Support & Belonging). No woman should have to navigate change alone. We provide ongoing mentoring, community connection, and access to enterprise and wellbeing supports. Support is not optional it is foundational.
Y — You (Human First)Every woman’s story matters. We lead with dignity, compassion, and respect. We meet women where they are without judgement and build from there.
